Transcognition II

For improvised accordion and computer. Transcognition II was premiered at the Evolution Ensemble 2021 festival in New York.

This work is created using 32 cognitive agents. Each one can work in a multimode. In cooperative mode, they imitate the rest of the agents if the agent is in cooperative mode ties to make the most differentiated music. The idea of this work is that a human node ( the accordionist ( Manca Dornik) works as a cognitive agent. The work begins with all the agents in a competitive mode. Each Agent creates its own music trying to generate the most exciting music to get the audience focused on its activity. Periodically, they check if what they do is really the most significant, if they decide not, then, they become collaborative (they have the intelligence to measure it, based on the Information Theory

New York version, Manca Dornik at accordion

The accordionist tries to improvise acting as a cognitive agent. This way we have a hybrid network of human and computational agents.

This work was produced during the Evo 2021 festival. Manca from Helsinky and busevin from Marid telematically produced the work via New York.

First, Busevin launched the electronic part with 32 cognitive agents. Then Manca improvised in a telematic session with busevin hearing the electronic sounds. She made various improvisations. She improvised trying to act as one cognitive agent, so she began in cooperative mode and changed into collaborative one more agent. Finally, Museveni made the mixdown of the accordion improvisation recordings and Manca made the video production.
